Some states mandate a specific micron rating for dispenser filters, some simply require a dispenser filter, while others do not specify dispenser filtration in their regulations at all. An owner or operator of a motor fuel dispensing site shall ensure that:<\/p>\n<ol>\n<li>All gasoline, gasoline-alcohol blends, and ethanol flex fuel dispensers have a 10 micron or smaller nominal pore-sized filter;<\/li>\n<li>Dispensers that dispense gasoline-alcohol blends shall have fuel filters designed for use with gasoline-alcohol blends;<\/li>\n<li>All biodiesel, biodiesel blends, diesel, and kerosene dispensers have a 30 micron or smaller nominal pore-sized filter; or<\/li>\n<li>In the event a fuel dispenser is not manufactured to be equipped to use fuel filters, they shall be installed in line with the fuel dispensing hose at the base of the dispenser. According to the Department\u2019s\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.agriculture.arkansas.gov\/plant-industries\/bureau-of-standards\/laws-and-regulations\/\">Laws and Regulations webpage<\/a>, Arkansas adopts NIST Handbook 130, as amended from time to time by the National Conference on Weights and Measures:<br \/>\n4.3. However, there are two requirements that generally compel the use of filters. Connecticut adopts ASTM standards pursuant to regulations under 14-327d CGS, and NTEP requirements pursuant to regulations under 43-3 CGS. Connecticut adopts by reference ASTM D4814 for gasoline and D975 for diesel. Workmanship requirements in the spec call for the finished fuel to be free of adulterants and sediment. Additionally, there are requirements for meeting the National Type Evaluation Program (NTEP) certificate of conformance. Filters are added as a protection for the meter by the manufacturer. They are approved as built pursuant to NTEP. A stop sale shall be issued when water or water phase exceeds one fourth (1\/4) of an inch. It shall be a violation for water to exceed one inch in depth, when measured from the bottom through the fill pipe, supply line or detection system of any tank utilized in the storage of the other regulated products sold at retail. A stop sale shall be issued when water exceeds two inches. For violations the water must be removed from the tank prior to the delivery and subsequent selling of additional product from such storage tank. For stop sales the removal must be done prior to resumption of sales.<br \/>\n(b) Prior to the sale of oxygenated fuels, the storage tanks must be clean and free of water and sedimentation (particulate material). Subsequently, the system must be monitored and kept free of any accumulation of water, water phase and sedimentation.<br \/>\n(c) Retail dispensing equipment shall use a 10 micron or less fuel filter for all products.
